PhD Scholarships in Chemistry with Specialization in Synthetic Organic Chemistry at Uppsala University
PhD International Scholarships in Chemistry with Specialization in Synthetic Organic/Organometallic Chemistry at the Department of Photochemistry and Molecular Science, Uppsala University, Sweden 2012
Study Subject(s): Specialization in Synthetic Organic/Organometallic Chemistry
International Scholarships Level: PhD
Scholarship Provider: Uppsala University
Scholarship can be taken at: Sweden
Eligibility:
A suitable background is a Master of Science (MSc) degree (or Swedish “Magister” or “Civilingenjör”) in Chemistry, with solid experience in synthetic organic, organometallic, and/or molecular inorganic chemistry, and an interest in physical (in)organic chemistry. The ability of the PhD student to be innovative and not afraid to go outside the traditional discipline boundaries is appreciated.
International Scholarships Open for International Students: No
Scholarship Description: The applicant will be working on a multidisciplinary research project that involves synthetic organic/organometallic chemistry, molecular inorganic chemistry, and physical (in)organic chemistry. The project lies within one of the two major project lines in the group, which comprises the development of molecular catalysts for homogenous fuel production, and the incorporation of main group elements different from carbon into oligoacetylene frameworks for material science applications. The project involves the synthesis of air- and moisture-sensitive compounds and their characterization by standard spectroscopic techniques. Further functional studies of the synthesized compounds by more advanced physical, spectroscopic and electrochemical techniques are performed by the candidate and in collaboration with theoreticians, spectroscopists and physicists at UU and abroad.
Scholarship Application Deadline: 2 January, 2012
